Whee, I’m back again!
For the past two weeks, I’ve had various family members visit me. Although these visits cut into my drawing time, I do enjoy catching up with my family and checking out the more touristy stuff in Atlanta, like the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and the CNN tour in the Omni Center.
Speaking of the Omni Center, it features prominently in a crazy movie I recently saw called “The Visitor”(1979). The movie itself is a fascinating mess, but it was all shot on location in Atlanta, allowing me a glimpse into the city’s more recent past. I didn’t grow up in Atlanta, so I’d forgotten the Omni Center once housed an indoor ice rink, a basketball arena (which still remains) and the ill-fated World of Sid & Marty Krofft amusement park. There were also once grassy knolls surrounding Atlanta’s highways, instead of all the concrete there is now. Aaah, progress!
